Rediscover the Quick Launch toolbar

What is the Quick Launch ToolBar?

This was, and still is feature of windows. It was enabled by default in ME and 98 but is not enabled by default in XP. It is an area of the task bar (illustrated in the graphics below) that you can always reach no matter how many programs you have running. But perhaps best of all is the the little tool called show desktop (seen right).

The show desktop tool minimizes all open windows giving you a full view of the desktop on one click, we couldn't live without it and if your wondering where it went to or can see how useful this tool is read on and we'll tell you how to get it back.

Displaying the Quick Launch Tool Bar

This is a relatively easy, simply right click on the task bar, as seen below,

Select Toolbars and highlight quick lunch

There we have it back, you can drag shortcuts onto it, drag the icons across to arrange them in any order you want but most of all you now have the show desktop icon.

You don't need the Quick Launch bar enabled to use the "show desktop" function. You can just hit windows+M (at the same time) to do the same. The "windows" key is the one between CTRL and ALT on the bottom left.
