The coolest character on the key board
 The standard keyboard has 101 one keys, it is laid out in QWERTY format and more and more people than ever are hammering those keys. How we love them, we cherish them and stand in awe at what seems to be inexhaustible range of new combinations.
First there was ASCII art, oh you remember it _0_0_ , surely at some stage light years ago you opened an email or saw a print out of a camel or some curvaceous lady made entirely of zeros, ah we where amazed then I tell you.
Then do you remember mobile phones, at first it was distressing to the tradition keyboard user, "cn’t wait 2 c u l8r", we starched our heads as younger relatives sent us these text messages in a strange code, then a friend would send one, and we became more acquainted with it. And though we regarded it as blastphemy, ah we where amazed then I tell you.
Do you remember of the econ's then the ;) and the ==) ah the computer was to claim it back and these where quickly adopted in instant messaging programs, ah we where amazed then I tell you.
Do you remember the modifications they tried to bring out, all different shapes and arrangements of letters, some where more efficient but us, the key loving public stayed firmly with our good old, age tested qwerty layout, ah we’re still amazed now I tell you.
 But which one of those 101 keys is the most cherish, what is, my friends, the coolest key on the keyboard?
It’s stiff competition I tell you, what about that strange tile (~)? No one is quite sure what it’s for, you don’t see it often but its free flowing curvature tells you it’s a bold key, daring to bend and sway where no other self respecting roman script character would, ah we like it already.
What the at key (@) in all honesty did we know what it was for before 1995. Occasionally you would see it on the back of a hand written receipt or on a market somewhere, maybe it meant per? But with 1995 and the rise of the internet the @ key was placed firmly at the forefront or public knowledge, and we love it. Joe bloggs at (@) I love keys dot com, the @ character, how we have grown to love you.
But it is none of these keys my true love lays with, no I’m afraid its a newer key, a more obscure, lesser used back seat beauty, the pipe character, have you ever noticed the | laying idly, unloved at the left side of you keyboard? How it rests there waiting for the day you will love it, and love it you will. The | can split your text |just | like | this, it brings a freshness and sense of style to the most boring design and here at deep vein insomnia we love it so much we put it in every page.
